I don’t know whether this is a reflection post or a review post or a complain post. I’m just going type out my thoughts and feelings about the night I wasted at Siloso Beach aka Krunk II party by them.

The stall vendors were told to set-up everything by 6pm. Which I don’t see why we should as the party door only opened at 8pm. (But crowd only started strolling in after 10pm!) As a good vendor (as I’d always been) I planned my time on the 8th making sure I get stall set-up by 6pm. At around 2pm, sms was blasted to all vendors to remind them to set-up by 6pm and also to let the organiser know what time the car will enter the gate so that they can arrange for free entry. And so I did!

Arriving at Sentosa gate at 3.35pm, I was expected to enter without any problem by showing them the pass. But guess they didn’t communicate properly. The pass which was supposed to give us entrance for a car and a vendor only allowed 1 vendor to enter and not the car! And the other photocopied passes which were supposed to give us free entry to Sentosa now only allowed entry to the event! WTH! All the details we were told weren’t right! Again, as a good vendor, and not wanting to jam up the traffic, I paid $6 for the car and 2 of us and headed into Sentosa. Immediately I called up the organiser and he said they’re still trying to sort it out with the Sentosa Management! (Pissed x1) Told us to arrive early to set-up but things not settled at the entrance point! WTH is this??

Later I arrived at the beach, expecting to see people setting up and all, but I was like the 4th to arrive and the place was only 30% ready for the night! Those present were either sitting around talking or not in sight except for their bags. But as planned, my cousin, bf and I started setting up the booth. After one hour and a half of stapling, climbing and all, the booth is done by 6pm! I walked outside to take a look at my completed booth and to my horror, many stall vendors weren’t in sight yet! Those on my left were more happening, they did try to do up their booth alittle…

But those on the right… well, many were not there by 6pm and those who arrived didn’t really do much about the stall.
So hey! I should win the prize! Although mine wasn’t very pretty and all, but at least I do it up and create some kind of a party feel to my booth! (So I think I deserve the prize of $500 and the 3D2N stay at a Bali Resort! - which I’ll talk about after the photos…)

Ok, about the prize that I think I should get, we were told during our briefing at their office that there’ll b a competition that night with a winner walking away with $500 cash and a 3D2N stay at Bali Resort. (the $500 later i read in the notes wasn’t cash, it was some kind of cash voucher instead! Pissed x3) And in order to win, we have to meet the judging criteria -

  • Creativity of Products sold - 40%
This one mine should get at least a 35/40, after browsing at the other stalls.
  • Booth decoration + Mascots if any (Banners, Signages etc) - 30%
    This I give myself 20/30.
  • Market value of prodcuts sold - 20%
This I seriously don’t know how they were judging it.
  • Team/ individual effort - 10%
This I should get full 10%!

I’m not trying to say that mine was the best booth around, but looking at the rest, I do stand a good chance of winning! Even the person in-charge who walked by said “This stall sure win.”! So where’s my prize?? My friends and I jokingly said that the prize will either be given to me or the last man standing. Cos from 1am onwards, vendors were starting to pack up and by 3am, only a handful were left! Yeah! It’s that bad! We seemed to be blocked by a huge wall from the crowd. No one seem to sense our presence! I’m not the only one complaining ok. Other vendors came browsing around also mentioned the same thing! And if the prize is really awarded to the last man standing, then what’s the whole point of decorating the booth? It’s a game of survivor!

Ok, back to the prize… I was determined to find out if this competition element was real or just a hoax. So I SMS the person in-charge after I loaded my staff in the car at around 4.30am. No reply from him until today. So I emailed them last night too. Now waiting for some kind of reply from them. If I don’t hear anything, than yeah, its a hoax alright! This will reflect super badly on them. So this we shall see… will update my blog if I do get a reply from them. (So you can be kept in the loop too.)

The entire night was pathetically sad. The crowd was sad. The programme line-up was sad (except for Kumar’s act which was hilarious! You go girl!) The party-ing was sad too. Some songs kept repeating and many songs were kinda old for today…

Since there was nothing else for vendors to do as there wasn’t any customers, we sat and people-watch. Couple of real interesting people we saw, which gave us quite a good laugh…

#1 - Guy drank on mineral water
There’s this big dark guy in white shirt and jeans. He looked kinda dorky and we think he has something loose in his head. He was holding a bottle of mineral water in his hand and floating in the sand. He’s floating cos he sure didn’t look like he was walking nor running… it was some how in between. With his big and heavy body, swaying and floating around, everyone around him were moving away from him. IMO, he was either too high from the mineral water or he was trying to dance in a funny and attention-seeking way. Either way, it was just hilarious!

#2 - Girls who can’t stand still
There were these 2 girls browsing at my neighbors stall. One of them was interested at the accessories, and the other was erm… trying to move to the music. Her movements wasn’t continuous. She moved when the part of the music is movable to her. I don’t really know how to describe it, but she seemed to be shocked by electric where her body will suddenly jerk and hands swayed with head tilting to the side… it was just amazing to see her do her stunts.

#3 - Guy who thinks he’s cool
This guy was about 1.6m and probably not more than 40kg. He was alone and I think trying to attract some kind of attention. He was one of the few earlier people who entered the party area. He was only wearing a bermudas and at such an early time, he was the only one without a t-shirt on. He walked up and down the entire party area a couple of time. And everytime he passed by my stall, he seemed to be holding his breathe. I wonder if he had been doing that the entire walk! If you’ve got nothing to show, please put your t-shirt back on! Cos no matter how much you stop breathing, the chest wouldn’t pumped up at all!

#4 - The Stand Floor
When you go clubbing, there’s a dance floor for people to dance. But at this party, it was more of the stand floor. You know what I mean don’t you?

Ok, I’m getting tired of typing… need a break…

10 mins later… ok I’m back… now what have I typed… scrolling up to see…

Alright, I’ve more or less finished what I had to say about the not-so-happening-night…. all in all, imo there’s just so much things that the orgainsers could have done to make the night a better one. And for all the vendors out there, if you’re going to join the next Krunk party, sell food or drinks. All the other stuff, forget it!

To end off this long long post, here are some photos from last night…
